A Special Invitation

We (Kyra Khanna & Malini Sekhar) would like to cordially invite you to join us on an epic adventure to

Create our first Little Loka Book!

WHAT?*!:  Yes! Crazy but true. Malini & Kyra who are good friends and college buddies (we represented on the tennis team together. Woot) have decided to collaborate to create and self-publish the Little Loka Book Series starting with India!  To add a slight twist and given our social justice backgrounds, we want to integrate a giving model into this project that will give back to youth here and in India.

WHY:  As new moms with a connection to India, we recognized a need for more multicultural children’s books for very young children (Ages 0-3).  We were both also looking for ways to express our entrepreneurial spirits. 🙂  Check out the next post for a cool story about how this all got started.

WHEN:  Fall 2013  (that’s the Master Plan!)

WHERE: Follow our journey on our vision board/blog – http:/www2lokas.com and be a part of it!  Not only will it be absolutely riveting :), we want to include YOU in the development of our project!  So we will have periodic polls to make certain decisions about the book as we move forward.  Of course, we welcome your ongoing comments and input!

FINALLY WHY YOU?  Because you are important to us, and we would be grateful for your support.  We would love to shape a product that truly offers value, and that isn’t possible without involvement and input from others, from you.

And equally important, we hope that sharing our experience on a blog will also be helpful to others out there who may find something we say useful. 🙂 Or perhaps our efforts will motivate others to pursue their passion and unleash their unique talents and abilities into the world.   Heck, if these lokas can do it, so can I.  That would be amazing.

SO, PLEASE JOIN US and please do pass this invitation along to others you believe might be interested.

Thank you and stay tuned!

Malini & Kyra, Co-Founders

2Lokas, LLC.  (Loka means world in Sanskrit.  We also like that it has a resemblance to loca in Spanish, meaning…well, you can look it up! 😛 )

  2. “Loka loka” means crazy in Tagalog! Can the second book be on the Philippines? Am so excited for you two. Would love to help in any way I can. Love you guys! A.T. (Go Blue!).

    • Hi hi! WE actually did know that (also similar to loca meaning crazy in Spanish)…we loved the double-entendre. 🙂

  3. Hey ladies!
I love the loka idea. I have been looking for books that focus on culture, values, and lots of adventure ever since my daughter was delighted with books about Chinese new year. I like some of the publications at Barefoot Books — especially My Granny Went to Market — and just bought some new books about the Massai, bi bim bop, and Thai lullabies from other publishers. Good luck! I look forward to participating in the process.
